Peter was born and brought up in Nyeri, located on the beautiful slopes of Mt. Kenya. He had his early education in Nyeri Kenya. He graduated from Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya. Upon graduation, Peter taught Social Studies courses for several years in various schools in Kenya. He also served for several years as the Chair of the Kenya Geography Teachers’ Association. His last posting was St. Mary’s School Nairobi where he served as a dean of students for 12 years. In 1997, he was hired as an expatriate international teacher at Atlanta International School. Before immigrating to Fort Myers Florida where he has lived ever since. He was initially hired as the first black teacher (after 40 years) in a high-cost private institution called Canterbury School of Fort Myers.
Peter attained his doctorate in 2013 at Florida Gulf Coast University where he teaches today. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the same university’s College of Education. He serves as the Coordinator of the Child and Youth Studies (CYS) Program. He teaches courses in International Comparative Education, Youth and Community Leadership, Youth and Community Resilience, Informal Learning Environments, CYS Seminar, Intro to Diversity for Educators and Environmental Sustainability. He also serves in various university service roles. He is a member of the FGCU Faculty Senate and serves as the Chair of the FGCU College of Education Diversity & Inclusion Committee and advisor to the African Students Association. His research focuses on Internationalization of Education, community engagement, immigration matters, diversity and inclusion, and different aspects of leadership.
A strong believer of the globalization of education, Peter has played a significant role in the creation of Aramid, a global students’ conference together with Jeanette Dials of Mariano Marcos State University in Batac, Philippines, KU Executive Dean Dr. Samson Ondigi, faculty member Dr. Lucy Mbirianjau, Dr. and many more. Today, this international consortium has grown to include 10 universities from four continents.
At the national and international levels, Peter serves as the Executive Director of the Global One Voice Consortium. He is also one of the leaders of the African Diaspora for Good Governance (ADGG) in Florida. He is a board member of the International Council of Educational Professionals (ICEP). He is also a member of the editorial board of The Geography Teacher Journal.
In the local SW Florida community, he is a member of the Lee County School District Equity and Diversity Advisory Committee (EDAC). He is the founding chair of the City of Fort Myers Mayor’s Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee. He is also a board member of the Lee County Bar Association Diversity Committee. He is the founder of the SW Florida Socrates Café.
Peter has won many awards. These include the Lighthouse Award (for the top teacher in the region), World Harmony Run Award, Educator of the Year, the Human Rights Champion Award and many more. In January 2021, he received the Keeper of the Dream Award. This last award is given to people who have lived the dream expounded on by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Early this year, Peter was recognized as the FGCU Student Success Champion. This year, he also took part in this year’s SDG Action Weekend (part of UN General Assembly in New York) to discuss what Transformative Education should entail.
In Kenya, Peter is the patron of Mathakwa-ini Primary School where he has helped setting up a whole computer lab. In 2015, he was appointed as the honorary ambassador of Nyeri County. He was reappointed to the same position by Governor Mutahi Kahiga of Nyeri in January this year. He has used this position to develop a leadership academy in Nyeri (www.ndlai.org). He uses this academy to provide tuition and other support more than 30 high school students from low socioeconomic status. Through this project, Peter won the Global Impact Award in the ICEP Fall 2023 conference. Peter, his wife Priscilla (a Nurse Practitioner with Lee Physicians group) and entire family live in Fort Myers, Florida.
Prof. Jeanette G. Dials has been a professor of English Language and Literature of the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) Graduate School and College of Teacher Education for 33 years now. A 2008 Most Outstanding Teacher of the Philippines and a 2009 Most Outstanding School Paper Adviser, she is currently the Chief of the International Faculty and Student Mobility of her university.
She is the President of the Professional Association of her locality and also the President of the College of Teacher Education and the member of the Board of Directors of the Faculty Association of MMSU. She has been a recipient of the Best Research Presenter Award in several paper presentations in international research conferences. Her extension project, the BASA Project is the recipient of the AQRA Heart Award in 2018 by the Asian Qualitative Research Association.
She is the renowned adjudicator and multi-awarded coach of the MMSU Debate Society and has travelled to many parts of the world adjudicating and coaching winning debaters. She has served as lecturer, exchange faculty and project coordinator in many education endeavors in the US, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, Turkey and the Philippines. She just recently finished her Online Professional English Network Program by the US Department of State and the University of Arizona With Highest Distinction (100% grade).
Dr. Ali Conant, NBCT, holds a terminal degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on educating diverse populations and families through critical literacies.
With over 20 years as an elementary school teacher in two states, she has travelled extensively presenting on educational topics that are timely and address the current struggles and triumphs as an educator working to connect society and the needs of all children. Utilizing her master’s degree in Community Mental health, Dr. Conant’s focus is to bridge the gap between students in need and family dynamics.
She is passionate about creating successful learning environments for all children and their families. Ali is currently an Associate Teaching Professor with Northern Arizona University working with teacher candidates preparing them for the classrooms of the future.

She has specialized in Gender and Education among other Educational areas. She is a researcher and has also published widely. Dr Lucy Wandiri Mbirianjau has attended many conferences locally and internationally.

Dr Anna Saiti, is a Professor of Management and Economics of Education, and Associate Department head of the Department of Early Childhood Education and Care, School of Administrative, Economics & Social Sciences, University of West Attica, Athens, Greece. She is the Director of the Lab Leadership & Innovation of the School of Administrative, Economics & Social sciences at the University of West Attica. She is a member in the Executive Board of International Council of Professors in Educational Leadership (ICPEL).
Her research interests focus on the Educational Leadership, management and economics of education and health as well as the labor market. She is the author of six books (in Greek), four books in English published by Springer and Routledge publication, one book in English published by Lulu publishing (ICPEL). She has written several articles regarding management and economics of education and health care published by international scientific journals.
She has participated in several international conferences and she was involved in an applied international research project associated with School leadership and equity. She is an active member in International Scientific Organizations. She was involved as the scientific head in a project on health economics and she was an Associate Scientific Head in a scientific project associated with labor market and professional well-beings of employees (organizational behavior), as well as in the project of the University of West Attica regarding the training of school educators in distance learning education, co-financed by the Greek State and the European Union. She is also Associate Editor of the journal Leadership & Policy in Schools (Taylor & Francis) and member of the Editorial Board of the journal Research in Educational Administration and Leadership.

Imelda Gadiano-Parcasio graduated with her BS in Education major in History and minor in English from the University of the Cordilleras, formerly Baguio Colleges Foundation, Baguio City; MA in Social Studies and Doctor of Education major in Educational Management at Benguet State University, La Trinidad, Benguet.
At present, she is a Full Time Professor of the College of Teacher Education of BSU. She held key positions like Student Government Adviser, Extension Coordinator, Department Head, Associate Dean , BSU- Gender And Development Focal Person and the BSU College of Teacher Education Dean.
She is a researcher, extensionist, writer and a resource speaker in her area of expertise . She is a member of the Philippine Commission on Women National GAD Resource Pool and an officer/member of various professional organization for teachers. She is a recipient of the following Awards: BSU Distinguished Teacher in 2014 and Benguet Outstanding Employee (Higher Education Institution Teacher Category) during the 2nd Benguet Teachers’ Day Celebration in 2016.
Itamar Rodrigues Paulino was born in Brasília, capital of Brazil. He graduated in Pedagogy and Philosophy at Higher Education Center Juiz de Fora (CES-JF), Brazil, and also completed his bachelor’s degree in theology at São Paulo Theological Institute (Itesp), Brazil. He developed his studies in Philosophy and Existence, at the Catholic University of Brasília (UCB). He also attained his master’s degree in philosophy at University of Brasília (UnB), Brazil, in 2006. Itamar Rodrigues Paulino concluded his doctorate in epistemology of the romance (literary theory and other literatures) at University of Brasília (UnB), Brazil, in the year 2014. Besides the doctorate, Paulino carried out post-doctoral studies in Literature of Amazonian Expression at the State University of Western Paraná (Unioeste), Brazil, in 2019.
In the years 1994-1995 he carried out social and educational activities and cultural practices and interreligious dialogue with Unicef and the Catholic Mission Verbo Divino, in the city of Garba Tulla (Kenya). In this place, he carried out social actions with the Borana tribal community, helping with community development in situations of high social vulnerability (hunger, disease, tribal conflicts, religious conflicts), with the aim of social promotion, justice and peace, and the search for alternatives for combating poverty in the region, through Paulo Freire’s community development methodology. He worked as a teacher in Brasília in 2000, at School União do Recanto das Emas-DF as well as at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Technologies of Brasília.
He is currently a professor and researcher at the Universidade Federal do Oeste do Pará (Federal University of Western Pará) (UFOPA), focusing his work on the following themes: Brazilian classical literature; Amazonian Literature; languages and Communication; public educational policies; Origin and Evolution of Knowledge, Philosophy, Education for Ethnoracial Relations, Management of Cultures, Identities and Memories. He is also acting as a scientific advisor to the Brazilian Government in the implementation of the National Culture System. In recent years he has focused on technical and scientific cooperation actions with Kenyatta University, Universidad de los Andes, Université du Nantes, Université du Renné and Universidade de Aveiro.
Itamar Paulino is a researcher and professor at the Postgraduate Program in Society, Environment and Quality of Life (Ppgsaq) at Ufopa, focusing on Afro-Brazilian, Indigenous and Riverine cultural diversity. He is a member of the Institute of Interdisciplinary and Intercultural Formation (IFII) at the Federal University of Western Pará. He works as a researcher with the Research Group on Interdisciplinary Amazon Studies (UFOPA); from the Research Group on Epistemology of Romance (UnB), and from the International Scientific Research Program Nantes/Aveiro/Brasília – PICNAB Network.
Fenwick W. English is Professor and Associate Dean of the College of Education at Florida Gulf Coast University in the U.S.. He is a former Superintendent of Schools in New York and a dean of a school of education and vice-chancellor of academic affairs in Fort Wayne, Indiana for Purdue University.
He is the former President of UCEA in 2006-07 and NCPEA 2011-2012. He is the author/co-author of over forty books, numerous book chapters and research papers. He has presented his research at AERA (American Education Research Association), the Australian Association of Research in Education (AARE)as well as the Queensland University of Technology, Monash University and the University of New South Wales in Australia.
He has been the editor of numerous handbooks and guides released by Sage and Springer. He was named a Living Legend of the field in 2013 by the International Council of Professors of Educational Leadership.

Maria Beebe has an M.A. in Social Science and a Ph.D. in Education from Stanford University. Her research interests include critical discourse analysis, women’s leadership, and communication technologies (ICT) for development. Maria has over twenty years of experience in global development in higher education. Maria has lived and worked in South Africa, Liberia, the Philippines, Sudan, and Afghanistan.
Although retired in 2020, she launched Kaisipan, Inc. as a non-profit to advance the digital capabilities of educators in the Philippines. Maria is a consultant to co-create an Asia Open RAN Academy based in the Philippines that will eventually serve the Indo-Pacific. Maria and James have been married for 53 years and have two children, David and Ligaya, and four grands–Jaxon, River, Harry, and Rob.
Maria received the Top Hat award in 2020, the Continuing Influential Filipina Women in 2019, the Global FWN100™ 2013, and the U.S. FWN100™ 2011. Maria edited four Filipina Women’s Network (FWN) books about the leadership of Filipina women.
Maria Beebe and Aramid Consortium board member Imelda Parcasio have won the UNESCO Open Education Awards for their Florida, USA-based Kaisipan digital education project for teachers in the Philippines. Beebe and Parcasio were named recipients of the UNESCO Open Education Resources (OER) Implementation Award for Excellence for Kaisipan’s three-pronged approach in harmonizing learner-centered pedagogy, leveraged technologies such as OER, and humanizing education to help advance the digital capability of teachers.

Ressa, T. (2019, April 4–5). I was one of the speakers at the AERA and the Spencer Foundation

the unique challenges faced by scholars with disabilities seeking to become tenure-track
faculty members. This program was developed to meet the long-standing
underrepresentation of disabled scholars in the academy. Up to 20 early career scholars
and doctoral candidates participated in the Pre-Conference Seminar for Early Career
Scholars with Disabilities/Disabled Scholars, a two-day seminar to be held in Toronto,
CA before the start of the 2019 AERA Annual Meeting. This seminar aimed at
connecting doctoral/junior scholars with virtual mentors to support their professional
development and networking.

Workshops:
February 3, 2014, I participated in the College of Education & Human Ecology (EHE) Office of
Research and Graduate Studies Student Research Forum, where I presented my research
proposal titled Transition of students with disabilities from high school to college. On January
31- February 2, 2014, I participated in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion Dissertation Boot
Camp, which aimed to prepare ABD for Ph.D. Also, I participated in the Teaching Orientation
with the University Center for the Advancement of Teaching on August 13-15, 2013. The
workshop for Graduate Teaching Assistants addressed university policies, learning integrity, and

pedagogy. On April 12-13, 2013, I participated in the Symposium Global Human Rights,
Sexualities, Vulnerabilities (OSU) to discuss global trends in human rights. On May 2, 2012, I
participated in the Graduate Interdisciplinary Seminar on Literacy & (Dis)Ability) organized by
the Humanities Institute (OSU). Then I participated in the discussion of the movie Voices from
El-Sayed at the Gateway Film Center on February 29, 2012. The documentary featured a
Bedouin village located in the Negev, Israel that houses the most significant concentrated
percentage of Deaf people in the world. The entire village communicates via sign language. I
participated in the Webinar Conference on September 6, 2012. Also, on October 20, 2010, I
participated in the workshop on Technology in the classrooms, including eLearning.

March 6, 2018, I was part of the Judges that reviewed graduate students’ presentations at the
Graduate and Postdoctoral Research Symposium on Tuesday, March 6. The Graduate and
Postdoctoral Research Symposium is an annual event that displays the research and scholarly
work of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars across disciplines at Wayne State. Over 150
master’s and Ph.D. students and postdoctoral scholars participate in the event.
Since fall 2017, I have been a member of the Michigan Developmental Disabilities Institute. This
year, 2018, I was on the panel that organized the screening of Intelligent Lives film on October

COMMUNITY SERVICE
2017-present. I am very much involved in the disability community here in Detroit Michigan
(USA) and in Kenya. Some of the activities I am involved include disability awareness focusing
on promoting social justice for persons with disabilities. This inclusion promotion of inclusion
and belonging of disabled people in the Michigan and Kenyan communities. The following links

church.

In addition, we have professors and students of the local educational institutions led by Florida Gulf Coast University. We also have many K-12 educators from the local school districts, particularly Lee and Hendry. Kevin Anderson, the mayor of the City of Fort Myers and other local dignitaries, will be there to receive you. The renowned professor, PLO Lumumba, will give the keynote address.

Aramid II is one of the very few conferences whose focus is solely on students.
Lastly, Aramid II can be seen as one of the initiatives of the greater global education movement which began in the 1960s and 1970s to reform education
Globalization has a close relation with education. As education has an important place in shaping a society, globalization has to be connected with education and the global activities have a deep impact on it.
Aim: To connect the FGCU community to the international community. Promotes international activities on campus. Provides opportunities that encourage students to act and interact globally.
